66 Ford F100 Crown Vic swap "Project SixtySick"

A friend here did a similar project here with a '58 F100. He used a CV front suspension and a T-Bird independent rear with disks. In order to use the same deep backset wheels all around he had wheel spacers made locally for the rear end. If you want good ride and are not intending to use for heavy loads or trailer work, this may be a good option.

A friend in Olds also used a ex-RCMP Crown Vic in his 53 F100.

Complete front suspension, engine and accessories, the front seats, and the computer as well as the rear end, which fits perfectly and all 4 rims from the cruiser as well as a few other items..

Good looking welds, I don't think you're much of a "hack". That's a good looking swap. It looks like a Dana 60 in the rear. I love finding those as they quite often have a powerlock with thrust button, I like those better for narrowing than the floating axles ones.

Ive looked into the t bird kit deff an option

clamps on ../and spin the center pin out to swap new ones in but flipped for the spring under

so I remember how hard the rear was set up with so many overloads for towing so I pulled 1 spring and 1 overload and the top overloads

the block is perfect to use a part of the lowering setup ditch the overloads for a better ride but still have the block on top of the pack to get a little lower so Im leaving it there to utilize it and just pulling the overload spring that sits on top of it.

well see ..might need to get some 2'' lowering shackles if its not low enough and sorry bout the huge pics ..new phone will choose medium size on the next post lol

You may need to modify the spring tie plate for the rear shock mounts as the angle changes when flipping the axle to be on top.

Plus a longer shock may be needed.

Im swapping in a 8.8 so Ill be moving the spring perches and setting up the shocks after ..see what fits or works best when its sitting on all 4s

what is that 8.8 out of? I'd like to do the poor mans narrowed explorer diff with disks. but they seem to sell for more then the explorer is worth lol.

Josh: That suprises me that Explorer diffs are going for big dough down there, they are not bank breakers around here.
Have you been scoping kijiji for private guys parting out trucks?
Pick'n'Pull in Kelowna has a bunch, keep in mind, starting in '02 they went to IRS, on the solid axle ones, I seem to have forgotten what year they went to disc brakes (and I would only use the disc brake one, it's a great setup, with the mini drum brake inside of the hat for the e-brakes)

Here's what Pick'n'Pull in Kelowna has in the yard ATM, but at ~ $185.00 before tax or core, that's not that cheap (to me)

I wonder if there is any chance he still has the old front end for that '53 F-100. I'm looking for backing plate and hubs '53-'56 F-100??.

You don't mess around do you? I'd say that was damn good progress. Let's hope the weather holds out for you...unless you have a garage to work in. Nice job! :)

Wow.....Good progress on the build.....oh yeah nice wedding photo to boot.
It seems you must have one great partner to allow the time necessary to arrive where you are at. I still can't believe the relative simplicity to install that front sub/crossmember assembly.

Yes, great work, the CV works good for the newer wider front track cars, not so well for older narrower front ends. :)

(but I love my MII kits)

Seeing those pictures is a great motivator and inspiration to get off my fat ass and cut, grind, weld, beat, and heat some car frame parts (and my body parts)
and I’m going to as soon as the electricians are finished put in some addition T5 lights for these old feeble eyes! Thanks.
