A Message from Ewald Penner of Jellybean Autocrafters:
“Hello
Canada Day has always been a special day for Kurt & I (Ewald), here at Jellybean AutoCrafters. To us it’s a day to celebrate how awesome Canada is and to give thanks for welcoming our family into this great country back in 1967, so we could build a life that until then, only dreams were made of.
Our family had it rough after becoming refugees during the communist revolution in the Ukraine in the 1920’s, then spending 40 years in Paraguay and Brazil, where the basics of life eluded us because they were so tough to attain. After landing here, we quickly realized that Canada is the “Land Of Opportunities” and that we had been handed a fresh slate to create a life that we always worked so hard for.
With this gift being the backdrop to our lives Canada Day is a special day for us, so we have always kept our Canada d’Eh Celebration and Car Show, a free and open event to anyone who wants to join us with their cool cars and even to those who just want to join us to celebrate Canada and see a bunch of cool cars.
Last year was the 14th year we held the event so we had over 850 cars and 1,200 people attend. It was an awesome day and a great time, so we made plans for this year to have a major upgrade to the entry & exit points at the historic Langley Speedway as well as quicker parking and such. This would make the flow of traffic very efficient and quick.
We’ve been looking forward to hosting this event this year again, but we’d had to make the tough decision of cancelling the it this year due to the Covid-19 current situation.
We took cancelling the event this year very seriously because it means so much to us, but we knew it was the right thing to do, given the current times.
The good news is, we are not cancelling our celebration altogether but rather, we are inviting you to our Facebook Page to celebrate there instead. We’ll create a post on July 1st about Canada d’Eh and invite you to post your pictures of what you’re doing on that day so we can still all “celebrate together”. We hope you’ll participate and make it a great celebration of our great country, even though we won’t be face to face.
We wish everyone a safe and fun Canada Day and invite you back next year so we can once again celebrate Canada in such a unique way in such an awesome location.”
