Do you think that those in the Canadian Hot Rod hobby are proud of JF Launier? You bet. And for a few reasons. Not only is he super talented (shout out to his whole team), but he has demonstrated that he can be persistent in the pursuit of attaining the coveted Don Ridler Memorial Award. For over 50 years, the “Ridler” has been awarded to first time shown cars at the Detroit Autorama.
This isn’t Jf’s first time to Detroit. He has attained Great 8 status three time before – not too shabby – but clearly has learned something each time. This year he had it all going on with the ’64 Buick Riviera “Rivision”.
He was competing against some nice cars to be sure but clearly “Rivision” stood out as the most unique build in the field. Not to throw stones at the other cars competing for the Ridler, but JF’s “Rivision” was devoid of cliches and was, as I said, totally unique. Obviously, the required quality was there in spades.
Well done JF!
Way to go JF!
And as a p.s. to my post above, kudos to the judging team for simply doing their job and selecting the deserving car.
Congratulations JF Launier and your crew at JF Customs on winning the 2014 Ridler Award at The Detroit Autorama … ‘RIVISION’ stood out above the other 7 Contenders and was well deserving of the Award. Again Congratulations on a job well done.
Awesome JF ,congrats to you and your team
Congrats J.F. on your vision and much deserved win. As a friend of Gord Phillips, owner of the Kardiac mustang, I know of your tallent and work ethic and it has paid off.
Alright you deserve every piece of that award JF… awesome ride… words don’t say enough… pretty pround that your from small town BC too…awesome..
Over the years, at the Goodguys event in Spokane, I saw the Kaiser, then R’evolution, the Shelby and was always awed at the fit, finish, detail and invocations on these vehicles.
This Riviera has re-set the bar. Can’t wait to see in person.
Congrats to you and your team for a job well done. Your talents have been recognized, not that they weren’t before, however, this is the “icing” on the cake.
oops, stupid spell check, meant to say innovations.
Congrats JF. Nice to see a local boy win. So whats next???
So great to see a Canadian win that big boy show and award. Congratulations JF- well done. (I also loved the Mustang).
Having seen “Redline”, “Kontageous” and several others up close and personal, it was my opinion that winning the Ridler was inevitable. Now you have reached the top of the world and now the only problem may be “defending your well-deserved title as the “world’s best”!
Congratulations to you and your team!!
After having seen “Kontageous” and “Redline” as well as several other cars that came out of your amazing shop, it was my opinion that winning The Ridler was inevitable.
Yes, it is the car that drives you and your amazing team to the greatest heights!
Congratulations, JF!!
Good on you JF and your crew of helpers. You’ve raised the bar at the Ridler another big notch. It’s projects like yours that secure the Ridler as the worlds top recognition for Hot Rod & Custom cars. Another notch in the belt for Canada too, can’t beat that. Good luck with the performance trials.
Thanks guys it sure hasn’t been easy. feels good to know that you’ve noticed me flying the flag. Ive had lots of opportunity to move south but I am a proud Canadian.. as for the boys that love the downstairs and cant see the beauty in the fact that this win opens the door for Anyone to win regardless of the size of your check book. Im sorry they do not see the magic that has just happened. let them know that I drove the car through a garage door 4 days before the car was on display and had a 42hr drive in the middle. thanks again for the kind comments 🙂
JFD I’ve seen you drive, did you leave some more rubber in Cobo hall?
Yes, great job. A real honour to have a local winner.
Tradtion:
He leaves it were it belongs in the past. Great job

Congratulations to all of his team of people who worked on the car, good for then, it must be a buzz for his whole crew.
Congrads indeed very nice car and so glad to hear that from Canada even better from BC. Good job.
Hockey isn’t the only thing we can beat them at. Well done J.F.
