This is a 71 Boss 351 car "being saved" however we all wonder why? But who can explain this crazy car thing we all have in one form or another?
Any way here are just a few shots of this project..

Is this the same car that you worked on a couple of years back, or do you like challenges? That thing has a serious case of Swiss Cheeseitis

Any wonder they call them rustangs. You have your work cut out for you on this one Neil. When did they make lace floorpans? God, I hate Mustangs. Had a couple myself. Pat

I just don't understand this stuff. I thought you guys had the dry cars out there, couldn't he find a drier body in Arizona or something?

Was that a snake skull/skeleton coming out of that rusty nook? Or was it an eel because the car was submerged?
I'm sure your detractors will insist it is a dinosaur skeleton...
Good luck. Good thing they make most panels for Mustangs...you're going to need most of them.
When do you think it might be a roller?
Have fun. I got an extra 2 lb spool of flux core if you run out

That is unreal Bash, mate why wouldn't they just get one of those repro bodies and just change the Vin number over, that is a challenge for you.

typical Canadian Mustang a friend is doing the same thing on an one owner 69 that was a garage stored summer only car and it still needs complete floors and all sub rails.

Neil,
That sure is one rusty stang.

I'm sure you and your crew will have this car looking as good as the last project you delighted us with. (The Cyclone)

AAAAAHHHH

So you have white ants over there too!

It looks like the making of a full chassis race car to me .

Good Luck Neil I know you can handle it.

Wow...amazing how far rust can take a body! Gonna be a cool challenge

Looks like you caught a mouse there with such a small hole ... bout the size of a dime huh? Should patent it as a mouse trap :P

Cheers!

....hahaha... there's going to be another $100,000 spent for a $30,000 (at best when finished) car. And you're right, it's one of the great mysteries of life.....

Its my understanding this car came from Indiana? my guess would be that being around the Great lakes in the winter did not do it any favours!!

Not much holding that one together. Reminds me of the 68 Firebird my dad and I did 2 years ago. It took us two years to complete but the car had sentimental value. It was the car he had in highschool.

I think I've got a few that are that bad, but I've also got enough common sense to know they will never be on the road again. They will get complete full frame chassis as a race car or simply become "organ donors".

i had 66 nova at my other shop and a 67 fairlane .. the only thing on the nova`s sheet metal that was savable was a dash upper cowl roof skin and inner front quarter thats it the rest was new . the fairlane was pretty much the same .. we also had a 69 mustang coupe a guy was goin too do it himself cause we wanted too much to fix it , needed every panel too be replaced

It kind of reminds me of a 64 pontiac 4 door that was in our bodyshop years ago. The bodyshop foreman started to laugh when the 4th guy that looked at it stated the owner must have lost his virginity in the back seat...

Bash,
is this a significant car?? Is it a REAL 351 Boss car??
If not, no sense in restoring it...it's been lightened for you, it may as well become a drag car!!!
