i inherited the old family trailer.
its just a simple flat deck with a single axle and 13 inch rims and tires under it no wheel wells. the frame is rusted out but the axle and tires were new last year.
i plan to build a new frame with a new bed and sides.
BUT i want to build it skinnier so the tires go on the out side of the frame in wells instead of under. the problem is the height of the springs. i want the axle to ride with 5 to 8 inches of clearence under the frame. the way it is now its 18 inches allowing 4 inches of tire clearance to the frame. anyone know where to get low pro spring for a 3500 lbs trailer cheap? or is does someone have a better sollution?

So the little set up for the 46 Mercury (engine, adapter, flywheel starter & clutch) turns out not to be so rosey/easy after all.

The supposed to be running engine is actually seized, distributer is half out, some home brazing on the valve covers, no coil or leads, and the bottom pulley is all bent and looks as though it had been attempted to be removed to crudely.

Unfortunately the new clutch wouldn't have been usable either as the spline is different but there was the bonus of a new starter I could have used.

Not quite the easy (ish) install I was hoping for, or hoping to give my mechanic buddy I should say.

Nothing against the chap I got the stuff from, he'll just be getting it back as no money was exchanged.

I have posted an engine wanted add in the wanted section if ya have one.

My brother called me last night. He is considering storing, among other things, his car for the winter. He's looked at renting a storage locker, Costco carports, etc but was thinking about something more secure, like one of those containers from the big ships. I've seen them around and saw some at Richie Brothers this summer, but don't know how they would be for keeping a vehicle fresh and dry. Assuming that a car would fit, does anyone do this? Is moisture a problem? Any thoughts on these containers in general, ??

I've been looking at buying a rod in CA, and my plan was to fly down , meet the guy and check out the car, then pay for it if everything was fine. Now it seems that if you even wire $$ down to the guys bank account the bank holds it for a few days, possibly many days they said at my credit union, to clear. A bank draft is the same, held for a few days, at least ,to clear. I didn't want to sit around for a few days - I want to buy the car and head north! His bank told him that in order for it to be clear by the time I get there I would have to wire the $$$ to his account ahead of time - so he's got all my money before I even see the car! Anyone have any experience doing this or know what to do to get around all the BS!? Thanks!
