August 2001 - Oshawa, Ontario

Dedication And Then Some
We've mentioned before that events of this size take a whole lot of planning. Essentially, when one event stops, planning for the next event begins. The planners of events like Langely, Canats, Canats East, Superrun, etc. know what we speak of here. We thank them all for their hard work.

In this case, we thank the Motor City Car Club for their hard work in staging Autofest 2001. Held on the GM grounds in Oshawa, Ontario, this event attracts lots of great cars and tons of spectators over the course of three days in late August. For Sunday, well organized bus transportation brings the spectators to the GM site leaving all the prime parking to the participants.

"Weather Permitting"
Things got off to a shaky start on Sunday for the show & shine this year (like last year) but the gloomy clouds gave way to blue sky and, at times, scorching sun and humidity. All in all, things turned out pretty well.

Great Turnout
We understand that appoximately 1200 cars turned out for this year's event despite the early morning rain. We talked to people from as far away as the Canadian maritime provinces and saw plates representing various states.

2002
We understand that the event will return and we encourage you to attend if you possibly can, either as a participant or spectator.

The Cars
As usual, there were a lot of great rides representing all the various genres of our hobby. Check them out by cliking on the slideshow link below the host club picture.
