Celebration of the Deuce Andy Brizio-Style
August 2000

For "Joker" Tom Palmer who's been "under the weather" of late

If you've ever been to Northern California, specifically the "Bay Area", you know that the weather can be unpredictable (e.g. San Francisco) and predictable (inland) at the same time. You can be chilled to the bone from the big mist rolling in from the Pacific, engulfing the Golden Gate, and, seemingly moments later, be treated to the an intense heat associated with the east side of the coastal mountains and California's valleys.

So it was as we left from San Francisco bound for Stafford Lake in Novato, California. It was a pretty nice, if cool, day in S.F., then hot, hot, hot as we made are way up Hwy. 101. Given the weather we had left behind, it was a nice hot (no, I'm not going to use the proverbial "it was a dry heat though"). And the sky! As blue and cloudless a sky as I've ever seen.

Days later, sitting on the Viansa Winery grounds looking out over another majestic valley under another gorgeous sky on another hot day (boring? No way). I was musing about this being "God's Country" but I digress....

Arriving at Stafford Lake Park, and then passing through the park gates, we wound our way down towards the lake. As we rounded the last bend, and still being higher than the lake itself, a glorious sight came into view. (at this point, I was wishing BIG TIME that we had our Deuce).

Sprinkled around the lakeshore, under the trees, some in no order and others in rows, was a cornucopia of 32's. I have to admit that I was getting pretty excited.
