What I
Did On My Summer Vacation - Part 2
|

Up front, you can see my buddy George admiring the Speedway Cocktail. This is the area where the Jokers meet. On this particular evening it was set up for the tour. Everyone was working hard to put on a nice spread. I bumped into a few Canadian friends on the tour. |

I just had to include this and I sincerely hope that Al gets to see this. There is an extensive mural in the main meeting room that portrays the history of the site and remembers Al's Dad. That's him above the roadster.
To end the evening, Ed Hegarty (record holder in a '34 DeSoto Airflow at the "flats") lit up the tires on this coupe and did a few 360's to boot (closed parking lot folks). Hilarious, and good fun.
Oops, the result was a fan belt that went for it. That's Ed in the white (without the hat). Jeff Sutton and Al are busy attending to the missing belt. All in all, a fun and interesting evening. A second visit would be required to see everything. Thanks to Al and the Jokers for the hospitality - until next time. |
