Introductions / Our Performance World Chassis |
By Frank Colgoni
We're going to take another lull in the action to introduce you
to a few products that we're using.
Back in March, we were readying our chassis for our booth at the
Performance World Custom Car and Truck Show. To show off these
cool products, we outfitted our engine/chassis. People luv looking
at this stuff in this context rather than having to peer inside
engine bays, under cars, etc. Check it out and refer to supplier
links at the bottom of the article. |
The chassis at Dream Machines with only the tank and rad/shell to
go on. |
Tank and rad/shell in place. We're good to go. |

Here's
our outfitted Ford Racing Performance Parts engine looking good. |
Sitting up top is a Holley #0-80670 670 CFM four barrel. This beauty features: No Trouble Quick Change
Adjustable Vacuum Secondary, 4th Generation No Trouble Power Valve,
Built-In No Trouble Secondary Fuel Filters, Adjustable Needle and
Seat, No Trouble Electric Choke, Four Vacuum Ports and Street Avenger
Fuel Metering System |
Mating up with our Holley carb is a Weiand #8020 Stealth intake manifold
of
high rise dual plane design with a broad power band of idle-6000 RPM. |
Distributing the spark will be a #D130700 PerTronix billet distributor.
It features a patented Ignitor II electronic ignition module combined with a
microprocessor. The microprocessor allows the Ignitor II module to adjust dwell
angle to maintain peak energy throughout the entire RPM range. The housing is
CNC machined from 6061 T-6 alloy aluminum and is polished.
We'll also be utilizing a PerTronix 45001 Flame Thrower coil and
808380 wires. |
From Doug's Headers come these Doug's D601 Ford
Street Rod Headers. These coated headers feature 1 5/8" tubes and
a 2 1/2" collectors. |
To control our AOD tranny, we've selected a Lokar ATS6AODDB
shifter. This is a 10" unit. You can see the position adjustability
of both the main plate and the shifter itself. A neutral safety switch
is integrated. Check out Lokar's Midnight Series if you prefer an
all black finish. |
From Tanks Inc. comes this 32-ZS '32 tank. It
looks great and uses galvanized steel. It's fitted with an internal
reservoir tray and top-mounted pickup tube and vent.
You might notice that we decided to mount the tank under the frame
horns. Yeah, purists will object but we like the clean look. The
photo below shows the tank's end profile. |
